Obituary - Jack ManireJack Manire, loving father, son, brother and partner passed away in his home on April 11th, 2026.

He was born on September 25th, 1987 to parents Mike and Carol Manire. He began his life in Brooklyn Heights, where it soon became clear that his limitless energy couldn’t be contained by an apartment and cobblestoned streets. Mike and Carol moved with Jack to Rye, NY, in 1989. Jack’s sister Kate joined the family in 1990.  They both attended Milton School and moved on to Rye Middle School and High School.

Jack was a stellar athlete and student. When he was in 8th grade, he was pulled up to Rye High School’s Varsity Hockey team to be the goalie at a robust height of 5’7” and weight of 110 pounds. That season, he received an award for his outstanding performance. Once, after winning a particularly heated game, his teammates coughed “eighth grader” as they shook the opposing team’s hands. On top of hockey, Jack was a fantastic soccer player and played trumpet in the band.

Jack graduated from Rye High in 2006 and attended Vanderbilt University, the alma mater of his great grandfather Swayne Latham. An English major, he further developed his avid love for reading and wrote articles for the Vanderbilt Hustler (as well as some stirring emails to his Fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi, as house manager about the importance of tidiness in the kitchen). At Vanderbilt, he developed lifelong friendships with his fraternity brothers, who have supported one another through every step of college and beyond.

In 2010, Jack found his life’s purpose. His son, Connor Michael Manire was born on May 7th to loving mother Bridgette Pryor. Connor was Jack’s guiding light. Seeing a smile or laugh from Connor could turn his day around in an instant. He said it often and passionately: Connor was his everything.

As Connor grew up, they bonded over hockey, soccer, the Avengers, and more. Jack, despite being an exhaustingly scrupulous television and movie critic, even watched Paw Patrol. They enjoyed family vacations and NY Rangers games with the Manires, holiday gatherings with the Pryors and Manires, and most recently, spirited bowling birthday parties including both families (with accompanying custom shirts). He was immensely grateful for Bridgette’s commitment as a mother to Connor, the amazing village that the Pryors and Manires provided for Connor.

Jack will be missed immensely by so many. A few of our favorite things about Jack:

He lived and breathed Rangers Hockey, and had an encyclopedic knowledge that converted the entire family to the fandom.

He had a singular, acerbic sense of humor that even he admitted could be annoying sometimes, but on balance managed to be charming and always made for lively dinner conversation. He was a brilliant mind and loved an argument– unfortunately, he would often win.

Jack loved music. He was a true aficionado and expert who loved Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, The Avett Brothers and more. He loved to play guitar, but was equally passionate about karaoke; his biggest hits include Creed, Boyz II Men, and “Careless Whisper” by George Michael.

Jack had just started a job at The Forum Group as Director of Private Wealth Management Recruiting, where he had already begun to make a strong impact on his team.

Jack was resolutely there for his friends and family. His loving partner Emma noted that everyone they knew had a moment when there was only one person they needed to call: Jack. He was always there for a phone call, with a text back or a conversation with his sage advice and wisdom. He saw the good in everyone.

Most of all, we loved seeing him as a father. He loved his son unconditionally, and we know that Jack lives on in Connor.

Jack is survived by his mother and father Carol and Mike; his sister Kate; his son Connor; his partner Emma; his godmother and biggest fan Nancy Witter; lifelong friend and Connor’s godfather Tyler Gordon; his closest college friends Austen Packer, Matt Moore and Bill Neelon; and his loving family on both the Lynch and Manire sides.

In lieu of flowers, please consider offering a donation to the Garden of Dreams in Jack’s name by selecting the box “Dedicate my donation in honor or in memory of someone.”

A Celebration of Life will be held May 2nd, 2026 at the Apawamis Club from 11:00am – 2:00pm.
