The Rye Softball team came up short in their two most recent games, falling to Eastchester on Wednesday, April 15, and to Harrison the following day. The Garnets have now dropped three games in a row.
In the Wednesday game, the Eagles won 6-5 on a walk-off in the seventh inning. Sophiah Collins hit her first career varsity home run, a 3-run shot to give the Garnets a 4-2 lead at the time. She also singled to lead off the top of the 7th inning with the score tied at 5-5, but was stranded at third. Rye then lost later that inning.
Penelope and Gigi Gilmore split the pitching in the circle, with both the subject of some poor luck. Caroline Joyce matched Collins with two hits, also driving in one run and scoring another.
On Thursday at home, the Garnets did not generate much offensively, losing 12-0 and only recording three hits. Penelope Gilmore doubled and Clara Meszkat and Charlotte Dinger both singled.
Rye (1-6) travels to Ursuline for their next contest on Tuesday, April 21. First pitch is set for 4:30pm.
