Rye Boys Varsity Tennis Head Coach Sue Dickson has named her MVP for the 2026 season: senior Luke Gordon.

“Luke Gordon has been an integral part of the Rye tennis program for four years of very competitive tennis,” Head Coach Sue Dickson told MyRye.com. “Supportive, enthusiastic, talented, and dedicated are the first words that come to my mind when I think of Luke.”

Gordon has spent most of his varsity career in the starting lineup, working his way up to becoming the top singles player by the end of this season. He has also filled in at doubles when asked to, although his best matches as a Garnet came as a singles player.

“Every match, every game, every point, Luke gives 100% effort,” Dickson continued. “He studies tennis, works on improving his game, and helps his teammates to adjust theirs to make things optimal.”

As a senior captain this spring, Gordon led by example both on and off the court, playing with distinction and dignity and supporting his teammates in their matches. Often times, Gordon wrapped up a quick victory and immediately found a teammate (or two) to cheer on. This MVP recognition is a testament to his excellent play and equally excellent leadership ability.

“[Gordon] has been a stalwart contributor to the positive, hardworking, dedicated aura of the entire team,” Dickson concluded. “It has been a pleasure to coach him and we will miss his spirit upon graduation.”

Luke becomes the second consecutive Gordon to win team MVP after his older brother, Alex, did so in 2025. The graduating senior is off to Boston University next fall as a member of their Class of 2030.
