Rye City has moved up the closure of Purchase Street and Locust Avenue to day time hours Friday in an attempt to complete construction work in advance of Hurricane Irene. The work is to install permanent stop signs and "bump outs" at the intersection.

Daytime construction, Purchase St/Locust Av, Friday 8/26/11, starting at 7:00 AM; expect detours/temporary closings
In an effort to complete pending work before the arrival of severe weather, construction work will commence tomorrow at 7 am, August 26, 2011 on the Northwestern corner of Locust Avenue and Purchase Street.
Access to Locust Avenue will be closed from Purchase Street during daily operations.
During concrete pouring operations on Purchase Street, traffic will be detoured as previously experienced during night time operations. This is scheduled to occur at approximately 3:00 pm. Please be aware of traffic pattern changes.
