It is just a-maize-ing that in the history of Rye Garnet Football the YORKTOWN HUSKERS, as in corn, never, ever germinated on the Garnets regular season schedule except in 2015. In four plantings including three playoff match-ups, Rye has reaped the Green and White every time 4-0-0 (1.000%) including a 15-14 2015 Section One Class A Semi-Final playoff thriller last season. Sound familiar? Isn’t this the 2016 Section One Class A Semi-Final playoff game?
The undefeated #1 seed corn (Yorktown) hosts #5 Rye for the right to progress to Mahopac and the sectional final. Don’t count these Garnets out quite yet as Rye is only five points away from being undefeated themselves. There are two pitchforked action plays on the Vegas Board this week. Does Rye harvest the Huskers or does one wager on General Cornwallis from the original 1781 Battle of Yorktown? This Old Garnet says take the Garnets as the outcome of the Battle of Yorktown I is already known – Cornwallis went down to defeat in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Huskers get de-kerneled in their own field tonight.
