Boys Varsity Soccer in 1-0 Win at Fox Lane

Jonas van Beurden

Rye Boys Varsity Soccer moved to a 2-0 record on Monday with a 1-0 win at Fox Lane. “Jonas van Beurden converted a Michael Desmond corner kick into the game winning goal in the 64th minute,” said Rye Boys Varsity Soccer Jared Small. “For Jonas, a sophomore right back, this was his third varsity goal with his first two last year also being memorable ones: the game-winning goal over Keio Academy to bring us one step closer to a league championship and an upper-90 goal against Somers in the Section 1 Class A final.”

Today’s starting XI featured five new starters from the starting XI that took the field at Harrison on Saturday. Ryan Kovacs played the full 80 minutes at center back, Nate Collins and Tommy Dore put in strong performances on the wings, Keir Sadler served as the center attacking midfielder, and Sam Beazely led the way up top with strong hold up play. Rye visits Sleepy Hollow on Tuesday.
