The Rye hunger charity The Bread of Life, based at 65 Orchard Avenue, will be featured on the NBC show George to the Rescue a week from Saturday. The show helps worthy individuals and organizations with construction renovations.

Also known as Giving Tree Global, Inc., the Bread of Life provides food and clothing to thousands of people in the Westchester County area monthly. It was selected by George to the Rescue producers for a renovation of its basement food pantry area. The renovation was funded by the show and the local contractor and designers donated their time.

George to the Rescue will feature the renovation during its WNBC-TV Channel 4 broadcast on Saturday, October 2th at 9:30 am and 7pm. “The George to the Rescue team has created a beautiful, more efficient space and has increased our storage capacity enabling us to serve even more hungry and food insecure residents,” Bread of Life Director of Community Outreach Sue Wexler told MyRye.com.

The process involved five weeks of filming from start to finish and included the host of the show, George Oliphant, the charity’s co-founders, Pastors Sherri and Pasquale Falco, the dedicated Bread of Life team, as well as a number of their volunteers.
