Rye Girls Varsity Soccer was blanked by Somers on Thursday. The Garnets fell to Somers 3-0 at the away game.
“Rye traveled to Somers to take on one of the top teams in the section,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “Rye started off strong moving the ball quickly opening up the field of play. At the 8 minute mark, Somers capitalized on a penalty kick to take an early 1 – 0 lead. Shortly thereafter Somers would find the back of the net with a nice cross to a one touch finish. Just before the end of the first half.”
The start of the second half Rye began to apply more pressure on Somers but could not find the back if the net.
The Garnets are now 10-2. Watch the replay. Rye will travel to Harrison Friday to take on the Huskies at 4:30pm (watch it).
