Update (7/29/2025): Here is the County’s economic impact report and also a summary of talking points. Interesting to note if of the $924 million impact only $1.8 million is film permit and location rental revenue.

The City of Rye’s annual budget is $52.8 million. And while $100K is not going to make or break our town, it’s better than a sharp stick in the eye, and this money comes with some fame and celebrity. The County recently bragged that productions filmed in Westchester County earned a combined 61 nominations for the 77th Annual Emmy Awards and what is says was more than $924 million in economic impact in 2024.

It is not clear how Natasha Caputo, director of Westchester County Tourism & Film calculated its “economic impact” number, but the City of Rye continues to have a nibble at the apple. City officials said Rye generated $102,500 in film permit revenue in 2024 and as of this week it has seen $56,300 in film permit revenue for 2025 to date. There were multiple Jon Hamm sightings – and an Emmy Award nomination – for Your Friends and Neighbors (Apple TV+), filmed across Westchester County including Rye, Harrison, New Rochelle, and Briarcliff Manor. The show earned an Emmy nomination for music.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “To have 61 Emmy nominations tied to productions filmed in Westchester County is a powerful validation of our role in the film and television industry. These accolades reflect the depth, versatility, and production value our communities offer. With more than $924 million in economic impact and a 51% increase in industry-related jobs last year alone, Westchester has firmly established itself as one of the most production-ready destinations.”

Other Emmy-nominated productions that filmed in Westchester County include:

  • Severance (Apple TV) which has filmed at locations including Bier House in Pleasantville’s midcentury modern Usonia neighborhood and Trinity Lutheran Church in White Plains earned 27 nominations including Outstanding Drama Series, along with nods for acting, directing, editing, production design, choreography, and casting.
  • The Penguin (HBO Max), shot at Sleepy Hollow Country Club and various Yonkers locations that doubled as Gotham City, followed closely with 24 nominations—including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, and recognition for acting, production design, cinematography, costumes, and editing.
  • The Diploma (Netflix), filmed at Sundial Farm in Ossining, received nominations for Outstanding Drama Series and acting.
  • Poker Face (Peacock), filmed in Tarrytown, picked up acting and stunt coordination nominations.
  • Zero Day (Netflix), filmed at Hilltop Hanover Farm in Yorktown and at Purchase College, was recognized for cinematography and directing.
  • FBI: Most Wanted (CBS), filmed at numerous locations throughout the county, most recently at Wartburg, a senior care and housing provider in Mount Vernon. The show was recognized with nominations for stunts.

The 77th Annual Emmy Awards will be held on September 14, 2025, streaming on CBS and Paramount+.
