A 60-year-old man was arrested again by the Rye Police Department on Tuesday, October 28, just fifteen days after he was first arrested on October 13. The man, Ming Wu of Flushing, New York, is being accused of the following charges:
- Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
- Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification Information in the 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
A Rye PD Officer performed a traffic stop on Wu after observing him parked in the permit parking spaces in Station Plaza and struggling to back out of his parking spot, according to a press release from Wednesday, October 29. “A traffic stop was initiated and Wu was asked for his license and registration,” the press release stated. “As in the case of his first arrest, Wu stated he did not have a license or identification.”
Rye PD reported that his vehicle – a 2024 Volvo S60 – was inventoried prior to being impounded after the traffic stop. During the inventory, several New York State, Texas, and New Jersey driver’s licenses were discovered, which reportedly did not belong to Wu. Further, a search of Wu revealed a wallet containing a New York State driver’s license belonging to a male out of Flushing, NY that was not Wu.
Wu was placed under arrest and transported to the Rye PD Headquarters, where he was we processed and ticketed to return to face his charges at the Rye City Court on November 18, 2025, at 9:00am. This arrest comes on the same day Wu was ticketed to return to the city court following his first arrest on October 13 (read the story on his first arrest).
Rye PD reminds you that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
