Rye Police arrested a 59-year old for DWI on Purchase Street.
On Monday evening April 20, 2026, at about 6:50pm, a Rye PD officer stopped a vehicle on Purchase Street, for a vehicle and traffic law violation. The driver was identified as Jan A Sokolowski, 59, of Meriden, Connecticut. Sokolowski was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic law violations. He was transported to Rye PD headquarters, where he was read NYS DWI warnings and refused to submit a breath test. Sokolowski was issued tickets returnable to the Rye City Court on May 5, 2026, and released to a sober third party.
