Garnets Field Hockey Falls to Horace Greeley, 2-0
The Rye Field Hockey Team’s dominant start to the 2024 season reached its first hiccup on Friday night, as the Garnets fell 2-0 to the Horace Greeley Quakers 2-0 at Nugent Stadium.
Rye and Horace played to a scoreless first half, but the Quakers broke out for two goals in the third quarter and managed to stifle Rye’s hot offense the rest of the way.
“The girls played tough and showed a lot of grit against a very good Horace Greeley team,” Assistant Coach Theresa Jelalian told MyRye.com after the game.
The Garnets (3-1) will look to bounce back on the road on Tuesday, September 16, against Nyack. The game is scheduled for 5:00pm at Nyack High School’s field hockey field. Watch the recent loss to Horace Greeley here.
