The #1 Rye Girls Lacrosse team had no problem handling business in the Section 1 Class C semifinals on Saturday, May 31, defeating the Somers Tuskers 16-6. The win pushes the Garnets back into the championship game after a dominant regular season and playoff run up to this point.
“The Garnets were dominant in the Class C semifinal against Somers,” Head Coach Michelle Mason told MyRye.com. “Seven players scored goals for us and our defensive unit limited opportunities from Somers’ top players. A great team win.”
In their last home game of the season, Rye started fast with a goal in the first 34 seconds, and stretched a 3-2 lead into a 9-3 advantage by halftime. They kept their foot on the gas with a strong second half, especially defensively, to advance to the championship game.
The Garnets now sit at 14-4 on the year. They will look to bring home the hardware on Wednesday, June 4, in the finals vs Nyack. Watch the recent victory over Somers here. Stay tuned on LocalLive for a streaming link to the championship. The contest is expected to begin in the late afternoon.
