On the morning of Sunday, June 22, 10-year-old Tyler Recht of Rye set out to make history by assembling the world’s first and longest chain of LEGO® Minifigures. Through careful planning and preparation, Recht brought together a team of friends and family to help him achieve his goal on the Rye High School track.
Although the forecast predicted clear skies, storms rolled in at around 9 am, forcing organizers and attendees to temporarily leave the track. Undeterred by the two-hour delay, Recht and his team of friends and classmates remained enthusiastic and ready to continue. In the span of just over two hours, the kids were able to take bags of 100 minifigures each and spread them out along the homestretch of the track. They ensured everything was securely connected and lined up over 1750 LEGO® Minifigures end-to-end.
After some final measuring, the kids had created a chain measuring 69.7 meters. Recht’s friends and family hope to get the results back from Guinness within the next 12 weeks.
