One hundred and thirty two Rye residents were part of about 1,400 athletes that jumped into the Long Island Sound Sunday morning at 7am to compete in the annual Jarden Westchester Triathlon. Participants swam 9/10ths of a mile, biked 25 miles and ran 6.2 miles.
This year, the course run went on Hill Street (off Oakland Beach), called "Mike’s Hill", in honor of Rye resident and active Westchester Triathlon participant Michael Swain and his family. Swain, a father of two, passed away on June 21st of this year from pancreatic cancer.
