Rye Rotary Club's call for donations to help provide Shelter Boxes to Haitian earthquake victims was heard loud and clear by Rye's professional firefighters.

At Friday's Rotary meeting at the Coveleigh Club on Milton Point, Rye Firefighter Andy Northshield presented a check for $1,000 on behalf of Rye City firefighters to the Rye Rotary. The money will be donated to Shelter Box USAto fund the delivery of a Shelter Box. Each ShelterBox (pictured below) is a large, rugged, green plastic container that holds a 10-person tent and a range of other equipment. A single ShelterBox cost about $1,000.

Do you know a person or group in Rye that has done something terrific for the people of Haiti? Like the Rye Rotary, Rye firefighters, Osborn Elementary School students and Christ Church? Tell MyRye.com.
