The city council's agenda for its meeting on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 is out. See you at 8:00pm in Council Chambers in City Hall.

The meeting will be preceded by a Workshop on Streets, Sidewalks, and Parking beginning at 7:00 p.m. detailing findings and recommendations from the Shared Roadways Committee. - 'Doing Time. Presentation by Mayor and City Manager of Certificates of Public Service to members of the City staff who have served Rye for twenty-five or thirty years.
- We'll Take It. Resolution to accept a donation from the Rye YMCA to the City in the amount of $20,000.
- Doug's Details. Mayor’s Management Report – Sustainability Committee Update on potential environmental and energy saving projects for the City; Transportation Project Update including Locust/Purchase, Central Avenue Bridge, North Street Bridge, Central Avenue closure; Legal Update.
- Take a Walk. Presentation on Pedestrian Safety update on Sonn/Boston Post Road and Midland/Palisades.
- Swamped. Public Hearing to amend Chapter 100, “Floodplain Management” of the Code of the City of Rye by amending §100-5(B) “Standards for all structures” regarding requirements for homes in the floodplain.
- Open Mic. Residents may be heard who have matters to discuss that do not appear on the agenda. Always a crowd pleaser…
- There She Blows… Summary of the 2012 Budget Process and Consideration of setting the 2012 Budget Workshop schedule.
- Death and… Resolution for a Budget Amendment to increase tax certiorari expense by $1,330,850 for the Osborn Settlement.
- Cuomo Smackdown? Consideration to set a Public Hearing to adopt a Local Law to override the State enacted tax levy limitation.
- Pucker Up. Consideration of a request by the Rye Merchants Association to close a portion of Purchase Street on Sunday, November 27, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the Mistletoe Magic event.

Come on, Ted. You can do better than that. Aren’t you at all interested in the motion to ignore the 2% tax cap? Given how easy it is for non-school governing bodies to bypass the tax cap, it makes the whole Cuomo-led circus just that – a circus for the masses.
I agree Bob – I really do – the tax cap is a fraud – but it’s a statewide fraud.
Here in the run-up to our own local elections, I think Rye voters should be – how do they put it in the Middle East – “awakened?” – to show just how far from “change” we’ve strayed under the stewardship of Kevin Plunkett, er, Douglas French.
So let’s see – Where’s the Schubert Investigation? Where’s the clean-up of Hen Island? Where is the adoption of the Legal Department reform recommendations? Where are the real decreases in residential property taxes – you know – “sustainability?” Where is transparency of unanswered FOIL’s – unanswered until the NYS Open Government people stick Rye’s officious noses in them over and over and over again? What happened to the jury verdict fully exonerating Michael Bassett? Where’s the Police Department reform? Did someone mention a sluice gate? Was there once a Central Avenue Bridge? How many taxpayer arrests can you count for protesting Rye government policies, inactions and apparent crimes – and how much court collected evidence lays ready for public disclosure? How many useless, dangerous stop signs from Wappanocca can be transported to Palisade and Midland to test an alternative traffic pattern and keep the promises of a sorry craven crew apparently elected through straightforward duplicity and deceit?
Yup Bob – we’ve been had on the so called “tax cap.” But let’s look locally and finally clean up what others pulling strings from White Plains can only whitewash for so long

Deceit, that’s the least you could call it Ted. Three months before the election Doug French spent two hours in my living room at my home assuring me, If I kept Mr. Floatie out of the City council meetings he would rectify the problems on Hen Island. I guess he didn’t like the coffee I was serving. Funny, at that same meeting he also told me there would be Legal Department reform. She probably had the good coffee, so she stayed. He is rectifying the problems alright. He now expects residents on Hen Island to shovel, composted human waste into the shores of Milton Harbor. This is what he wants to approve:
